Bo Lundgren

VBo Lundgren is the Director General of the Swedish National Debt Office. The National Debt Office is engaged in cash and debt management for the government, banking sector supervision and deposit insurance. Therefore he is directly responsible for providing financing for the government, safety of the Swedish financial system and the assets of the depositors.

From 1999-2003 Bo Lundgren was the leader of the Swedish Moderate Party, which is a supporter of liberal economic policy. He succeeded a well-known politician Carl Bildt in this position and was followed by the current Swedish Prime Minister Fredrik Reinfeldt. To this day Bo Lundgren is his party's spokesman in economic and monetary affairs.

During 1991-94, he was working as a Minister for Fiscal and Financial Affairs responsible for the banking sector and led the country out of the previous financial crisis.

In his presentation " How to tackle a financial crisis: The case of Sweden in the 1990s" Bo Lundgren will focus on the current financial crisis and its effects on the regional and global economy. Based on Sweden's experience in the 1990s financial crisis, he will analyze the current situation and outlook of the Swedish banks.
